BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle division of the Germany-based automotive manufacturer, has introduced a new bike to its gamut of motorcycles in India. The R NineT is a premium street bike that the company launched worldwide in 2013 to celebrate 90 years of its existence.
The USP of the R NineT is its customizability, thanks to its modular frame concept – the bike’s tail section can be changed to make it a twin-seater streetfighter, a single-seat café racer, or even be removed altogether to give it a chopped-off custom look to it.
The BMW R NineT comes with an air & oil-cooled horizontally-opposed twin-cylinder engine that displaces 1170cc, and produces 108.45 bhp and 119 Nm of torque. BMW claims the bike can reach a top speed of just over 200 kmph. Other salient features include a top-notch braking system that consists of double Brembo disc brakes at the front, a single disc at the rear, ABS, and inverted telescopic front suspension from the company’s S 1000 RR superbike.
Priced at Rs 23.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new BMW R NineT may seem like a very expensive proposition, but rest assured, you get a unique motorcycle that is handcrafted to perfection, and can be easily customized to suit your whims and fancies, as and when you demand it.
