Until now, speculations were rife that the next generation Pulsar 150 would be called the 160NS, sporting a new 160cc engine and styling from the 200NS. It turns out that some of the speculations were just that. According to these photos, shot at a product showcase by Bajaj in Turkey featuring the next-gen Pulsar, the new version will retain the ‘150’ moniker, which casts a doubt on the rumoured hike in capacity. Also, they indicated the inclusion of Bajaj’s proprietary Triple-Spark technology, and a four-valve system, both of which will definitely increase power. Design wise, the new Pulsar 150 looks akin to the 200NS, albeit with a few differences. Compared to the current model sold, the new Pulsar 150 looks more contemporary.
The new Pulsar 150 is expected to be launched in India by April 2015, and should be priced at around Rs 70,000 ex-showroom. However, their delay in updating the Pulsar has resulted in the premium commuter market share shift to the likes of the Yamaha FZ-Fi, Suzuki Gixxer, and the Honda CB Trigger, so we reckon that Bajaj will have its task cut out in wooing consumers in this segment back to them.
