Bajaj has released a video teasing the much-awaited fully-faired version of the Pulsar 200NS. The new bike is christened Pulsar RS200, and claims to be the “Fastest Pulsar Yet”. The RS200 is visually the same as the SS400 Concept that Bajaj showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, and is the first production bike from the company to sport a full-fairing, something that’s in vogue with most Indian bike enthusiasts. Aesthetics aside, the fairing should also prove to be functional, making the bike more comfortable to ride at high-speeds. The bike will use the same 200cc triple-spark single-cylinder unit as the 200NS, albeit with fuel-injection instead of a carburettor. This should see a slight hike in the power output, while improving throttle response and refinement.
And to the crucial question that everyone’s been asking, whether the RS200 will come fitted with ABS or not, the answer is yes, it will. A closer look at the instrument cluster shown in the teaser reveals the presence of an ABS indicator light within the tachometer. Whether it will come standard, or as an optional extra, is something that’ll only be known when the RS200 is officially launched later this month.
We reckon the Pulsar RS200 should be priced between Rs 1.3 – Rs 1.5 lakh on-road, undercutting its distant cousin, the KTM RC200, by at least Rs 30,000. Will it change the dynamics of the performance biking segment in India? We’ll have to wait and watch!
