The American cruiser-manufacturer Indian Motorcycles have added one more bike to their range in India, namely, the 2015 Roadmaster. We take a closer look at this new luxury highway tourer, and give you the low-down on what it brings to the fore.
The Indian Roadmaster is a massive motorcycle, tipping the scales at nearly 420 kg dry. It is a fully-loaded luxury cruiser that pampers riders with a host of comfort-oriented features. It gets keyless start, where you can start the engine with the key-fob safely in your pocket. You can also open the storage compartments remotely using the key-fob. Talking about the storage, the Roadmaster offers over 140 litres of combined storage space from two side panniers and a rear-mounted trunk, which should be more than sufficient to carry a week’s worth of luggage for two.
The Roadmaster’s luxury intentions are further reinforced by the presence of throne-like seats for both rider and pillion. The seats are crafted from fine “Desert Tan” leather, and are heated for additional comfort in extreme cold. The motorcycle also gets a power-adjustable windshield, which can be adjusted at the touch of a button on the move, and LED lights all-round, for better visibility in low-light.
The Indian Roadmaster is powered by the company’s new 1.8 litre “Thunderstroke” V-Twin engine that is also seen on the Chief and Chieftain models. This motor produces a monstrous 139Nm torque, which should help the motorcycle accelerate in a manner that belies its heft. The 2015 Indian Roadmaster is priced at Rs. 37 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), and is available in three shades, Red, Red/Ivory Cream, and Black. Deliveries are expected to commence by mid-2015.
