It is no secret that Suzuki has a 150cc sport bike based on the Gixxer under development, with a late 2015 launch on the cards. Images of the prototype being tested on Indian roads have already cropped up on the internet. Now, Indonesian website MotoBlast.org has created a rendering of what the final version could possibly be like:
The new bike would look essentially like a scaled-down version of the larger GSX-R superbikes, which is great. The full-fairing will provide the new bike a sporty allure, something that is highly-cherished by many Indian riders, apart from improving high-speed aerodynamics. Mechanically, the bike is said to be similar to the Gixxer, although we think it will be tweaked for better performance. Nevertheless, it would be awesome if Suzuki plonks in a bigger, more powerful engine in the mix. A 250cc fully-faired Gixxer developing around 25bhp and priced at around Rs 1.5 lakhs would be an instant hit in our market. We hope the head honchos at Suzuki India read that.
Suzuki Motorcycles India has had a good 2014, thanks to the upswing in fortunes brought forth by the success of the Gixxer and the Let’s. 2015 is going to be somewhat trickier, with well-established competitors having lined up some big-ticket launches. Whether Suzuki can hold its own amongst the crowd, only time will tell.
