Triumph Motorcycles has officially unveiled the 2016 Tiger Sport. The bike gets several cosmetic as well as mechanical upgrades under the skin that makes it more appealing than ever before. Triumph India currently has 11 bikes in its line-up.
Design and Powertrain
In typical adventure bike fashion, the Tiger Sport comes with a large front windscreen and hand guards as standard. The new Tiger Sport is powered by the same engine used in the new Speed Triple-a 1050cc, in-line three cylinder engine that develops a peak power of 140 bhp at 9500 rpm and has a peak torque output of 112 Nm at 7800 rpm in the Speed Triple. However, as the Tiger Sport is an adventure bike, the engine will be tuned to suit the bike’s purpose. The new engine comes with the following changes:
The Tiger Sport’s engine is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. The bike comes with a slipper clutch as standard. The use of ride-by-wire technology will allow the rider to choose between 3 distinct ride modes-Rain, Road and Sport. Each mode varies multiple parameters in the engine to deliver best performance in that situation.
The Triumph Tiger Sport will be officially unveiled for the general audience at the London Motorcycle show this month. The company has not yet revealed performance specifications for the Tiger Sport. Once, that is revealed, it might be possible for us to comment on its potential. Stay tuned for more information.
