For all those effusive bike fanatics who have been patiently waiting for the updated 2014 edition of the Yamaha FZ, your wait is about to end. The company is all set to launch the updated version of the popular street bike on the 30th of June 2014!
Let’s first talk about the outgoing Yamaha FZ, a 153cc single cylinder engine with a sporty and gritty look; I think it was all evident that this bike was bound to capture the hearts of youngsters and working men. One intriguing feature of the Yamaha FZ is its captivating looks and outwardly pleasing muscular design which automatically make it an eye-catcher. Add to this its high-torque engine that offered a lot of torque in the 2000-3000 rpm range, it was a born winner.
All that we know for now is that the 2014 edition of the FZ is a revamped and improved version of the current model, but with most details under the wraps, what can one expect in this latest launch?
For starters, the new FZ is going to be powered by a bigger single cylinder engine, with an expected displacement of 170cc, which should be capable of producing a maximum power of over 17 bhp, compared to the older version’s 13.8bhp. That’s a whopping increase in the power department, and I simply can’t wait to get to smear the road with rubber marks off these tires!
Another piece of news is that the new FZ could now come equipped with a Fuel Injection system. That directly means enhanced performance and better fuel efficiency. Also, reports are abuzz that the Japanese manufacturer has incorporated a few changes in the overall design of the bike, which means it could look akin to the FZ-S Concept Yamaha showcased in the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year. These include air scoops on the petrol tank, a new exhaust and heat shield and a fierce-looking head light to name a few. All these additional tweaks and features will definitely place the price of this bike in excess of Rs. 71,280 (Ex-showroom Delhi) which is the price of the current Yamaha FZ-S.
All will the revealed on the following Monday. Watch this space!
