World Supersport racer Andrea Antonelli dies in tragic crash


25-year old World Supersport rider Andrea Antonelli was fatally injured after being involved in a massive crash at the 8th race of season, held at the Moscow Raceway in Moscow, Russia. Due to torrential rain, the rider of the No.8 GoEleven Kawasaki had lost traction and slid off the track. Another rider, hampered by the low visibility, hit him from behind. The race was red-flagged and stopped, and Antonelli was immediately taken to an ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries. All further activities for the day were cancelled.   


Andrea Antonelli had joined the GoEleven Kawasaki Team at the start of the 2013 season, and had played a key role in the bringing the team in contention for the top five spots for the championship. His best finish was the 7th he bagged in the first race of the season at Phillip Island, Australia.
