Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship 2013 - Round 3 Qualifying Results

By

The 3rd Round of the Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship being held at the Madras Motorsport Race Track in Chennai, had a sizzling start, quite literally. Despite the recent rains in the area, track temepratures soared to as high as 63 degrees! Nevertheless, the riders kept their cool during the qualifiers, and posted some really fast times. Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, Hiroki Ono, and Ahmad Afif Amran have qualified for the pole position for their respective classes. Azlan Shah, who rides a Honda CBR 600RR for the MUSASHi Boon Siew Honda Racing Team in the SuperSport 600 class, set a new lap record during his qualifying run, with a blistering time of 1 min 42.785 seconds.

The Underbone 115cc class saw Ahmad Afif Amran, currently 3rd in the championship standings, beat championship leader Hadi Wijaya to snag the top slot by a scarcely believable 0.031 seconds! Asia Dream Cup Championship leader Hiroki Ono took the pole position setting a time of 1 min 56.230 seconds on his Honda CBR 250R.

Amongst the Indian riders participating in this round, K.Rajini qualified 19th in the Supersport 600 class, while Sumit Lucas Toppo & Arunagiri Prabhu qualified 11th and 14th respectively for the Asia Dream Cup race.
