Bikes with ABS in India - Under Rs 3 Lakhs

Anti-lock Braking System, or ABS as it is most commonly known, is one of the most important safety system invented for motorcycles. Its function is to prevent one of the most common causes of accidents on two-wheelers – wheel lock under braking. Wheel-lock occurs when you apply more braking force than required for the grip available. ABS helps by modulating the brake pressure automatically when it senses impending wheel-lock, thereby ensuring that you decelerate safely.

It would seem logical to equip all bikes sold today with ABS, but then, fitting a bike with ABS as standard would significantly increase its price, which manufacturers believe could negatively affect sales in a price-conscious market like India. Thankfully, the Government of India is stepping in, and is planning to make ABS standard for all motorcycles over 125cc in the country in the next few years.

So, if you’re looking for a bike with ABS under Rs 3 lakhs at the moment, your choices are limited, but varied, as each one suits a specific requirement. Let us check them out:

It also looks very handsome to boot, and comes with a host of nifty features. Yes, it is nearly Rs 10,000 more expensive than the non-ABS version, but we say it is well worth the safety and security offered by the ABS.

Bajaj’s flagship motorcycle is also their most powerful and fastest yet. While it is based on the naked 200NS, it gets a whole host of additions, such as a full-fairing, and fuel-injection. It is also priced also very attractively, undercutting its closest rivals by a substantial margin, thereby posing very good value for money.

The Pulsar RS 200’s ABS system is a single-channel system, which means that it works only on the front brake. While it is not as effective as dual-channel ABS, it still will come in handy in panic braking situations, as most of the braking effort is done by the front brake.

The RC390 has sharper, edgier styling, steeper steering rake, and a shorter wheelbase. It provides an extremely focused riding posture that allows for most control around corners.
