BMW S1000R Launched In India at Rs 22.83 Lakhs!

Looking to buy a BMW S1000RR but put away by the extremely sporty ergonomics and impracticality? Well, if you are one of those lucky people to ever be in such a situation, your wait is over. BMW has launched the S1000R, the naked roadster version of their highly acclaimed super sport bike, for sale in India.

BMW S1000R

Launched last year at the EICMA Motor Show in Italy, the S1000R (Single-R) is a more practical and street-friendly motorcycle than its fully-faired sibling. Design-wise, the Single-R looks just as menacing, with its signature asymetrical headlights and asymetrical bodywork. The bike is powered by the same 1000cc inline four-cylinder, which has been tuned for friendlier road performance. As a result, the Single-R outputs 160 bhp at 11,000 rpm. Considering the S1000RR (Double-R) develops 193 bhp, performance won’t be as extreme, although it should be more than sufficient for everyday use. The bike also sports a wider handlebar and relatively relaxed rider ergonomics, making it more comfortable to ride.

As was the case with the Double-R, BMW offers the Single-R with a bevy of performance-enhancing electronic assists such as switchable riding modes, ABS, traction control, stability control, and even electronically adjustable suspension. These systems helps the rider to keep the bike under control at all times in any condition, and allows them to exploit its capabilities to the fullest.

The BMW S1000R is priced in India at Rs 22.83 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai), and will be available in three colours, red, white and blue.
