DSK Motowheels made the headlines in late 2014 by announcing its plans to bring the much anticipated Benelli Motorcycle brand to India in early 2015. Now, the company has announced that it has plans to bring in another foreign brand, Keeway, in the second half of 2015. Originally from Hungary, Keeway is most likely to introduce the Blackster, a 250cc cruiser, as its first product in the Indian market. The cruiser segment is one of the fastest-growing in India, and it is only natural that DSK would want to improve their presence in this segment.
The Blackster is powered by a 249cc air-cooled V-Twin engine, which outputs of 19 bhp and 18.7 Nm of torque. The bike is expected to compete against the likes of the Bajaj Avenger 220 and the 350cc Royal Enfield motorcycles.
It is reported that DSK could possibly sell the Blackster under the Benelli brand, given that both Benelli and Keeway are owned by the Qianjiang Group, and that Benelli has already commenced the development of a dealership network in the country. The Blackster is likely to be homologated by April 2015, with the launch likely to happen by September.
