It is good times for Harley-Davidson India. The American company’s manufacturing plant in Bawal, Haryana has bagged the coveted Operational Excellence in Manufacturing Award presented to them by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), during a felicitation ceremony conducted a few days back.

Harley-Davidson commenced operations in India from the year 2010, and has since then seen a gradual-but-steady rise to become one of the biggest players in the premium motorcycle segment in India. Most of the company’s bikes sold in the country are those assembled from CKD units at the Haryana facility. With the advent of the CKD models, Harley-Davidson has seen a phenomenal growth in brand presence and market share. India is the first country to have Harley-Davidson manufacturing operations outside the US, and only the second country to have the compnay's CKD assembly operations outside the US.

This is the tenth year since the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce instated these awards. The IACC is responsible for promoting economic trade and business relations between India and US, by recognizing the best American companies in India and Indian companies in the US, especially organizations that have contributed to the promotion of Indo-US trade.
