Harley Davidson has started to recall the Street 750 cruiser in India, a little while after recall was announced for the Street 500 and Street 750 in the US market. Bikes, manufactured between 20th January 2014 and 24th June 2015, were recalled in the US and Bikes, manufactured between 24th February 2014 and 15th July 2015, are recalled in India. The recall was announced to rectify a fault in the fuel pump.
The bike’s fuel pump had a fault at the pump inlet. A poor seal at the inlet was causing the fuel to cut-off during acceleration. Engineers have confirmed that this situation is more likely to happen when the fuel level is low. Once the seal sets, an abrupt restoration of fuel supply causes the engine to shudder, thereby increasing the chances of loss of control.
The fault in the affected bikes will be rectified free of cost. Harley Davidson has started to contact customers across the country to inform them of the situation. The company has also asked dealers to complete delivery only after inspection.
