When Hero MotoCorp first showcased the Splendor Pro Classic and the Passion Pro TR at the 2014 Auto Expo earlier this year, we thought that they developed them as concepts, out of a good sense of humour. It later turned out that they were deadly serious about them. Earlier last month, both bikes started to appear at Hero dealerships, but there wasn't any official word from Hero regarding them. Today, the company has officially launched both the Splendor Pro Classic and the Passion Pro TR for sale in India.
For the uninitiated, the Splendor Pro Classic is the café racer version of the standard Splendor Pro. It comes replete with a solo rider saddle, a cowl in place of the rear seat, low handlebar, chrome mirrors and mudguards, and retro style tail lights. The bike will be available in Solid Maroon and Carbon Black. The bike still employs the 97cc air-cooled single cylinder engine, albeit in a slightly different state of tune, which helps it output 8.24 bhp @ 8000 rpm, which is a little higher than normal.
The Passion Pro TR on the other had is essentially a standard Passion Pro with a host of additions for rough road riding, such as a handlebar with crossbar, knuckle guards, headlight grill, side tank pads, high-mounted front mudguard, and an underside bash plate. The TR also gets a front disc brake, alloy wheels and electric starter as standard. While the bike utilises the same 97cc engine as the standard Passion Pro, it has been tweaked to produce power and torque lower in the rev range.
The Hero Splendor Pro Classic is priced at Rs 48,650 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and is available in Solid Maroon and Carbon Black colors, while the Passion Pro TR is priced at Rs 51,550 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi), and comes in three shades, Electric Blue, Sports Red, and Black with Sports Red.
