It has been revealed that Hero Motocorp will introduce a new bike featuring a revolutionary low-cost fuel-injection system into the Indian market early next year. The revelation was made by Saju Mooken, Managing Director of Magneti Marelli India, which has developed the system, in an interview to The Economic Times.
The reason why most two-wheelers sold in India today are still equipped with carburettors is because fuel-injection systems are quite expensive. Magneti Marelli aims to offer the advantages of fuel-injection, such as a quicker throttle response, better fuel-efficiency and cleaner emissions, at a lower initial cost. This would in turn enable manufacturers to price bikes equipped with them at a much more affordable point.
