Hero updates the Splendor Pro ahead of festive season

Diwali is around the corner and bike manufacturers are gearing up to serve potential customers during the festive period. Manufacturers are either updating their products or providing attractive offers for the same. Hero Motocorp recently announced that two new scooters, namely Duet and Maestro Edge will be launched during Diwali. Now, the company has also updated one of its most popular products ever-The Splendor Pro

Hero’s game plan

Over the past few months, Hero has been observing a worrying trend. Its bread and butter model-the Splendor Pro has been slowly losing market share to the scooter segment. The robust sales figure posted by the Honda Activa has put the Splendor Pro and Hero’s scooters under threat. Hero plans to retaliate by launching the refreshed Splendor Pro, the Duet and the Maestro Edge.

Design and Colours

The updated Splendor Pro gets multiple design changes to make it look fresher and more appealing to potential customers. The changes include an all new headlamp design, new wind shield design, Chrome plated exhaust, clear lens indicator, new grab rail design, a wider seat and body coloured rear view mirrors. The new Splendor Pro will be available in 8 colours and 4 variants. The various colour options are listed in the official website.

Powertrain and Features

The changes to the Splendor Pro will be skin deep only. The engine and mechanicals will remain the same. The Splendor Pro will continue to be powered by 97cc, air-cooled engine that develops a peak power of 7.7 bhp @ 7500 rpm and has a peak torque output of 8.04 Nm @ 4500 rpm.

The notable features on the Splendor Pro include side stand indicator, black alloy wheels, electric start and maintenance free battery. The Splendor will be available with a maintenance free battery.

Our take on this strategy

The slew of updates and new launches by Hero Motocorp will be enough to generate the necessary traction to regain dominance in the entry-level two wheeler segment.
