Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India (HMSI) today unveiled its most affordable offering in the scooter segment, the Activa-i. The new Activa-i is a compact automatic scooter that is targeted at young working executives, for those who'd want a stress-free way to commute to work.
Mechanically, the scooter is very similar to the popular Activa, but is completely different in terms of design, incorporating a trendy styling that should appeal to its target audience. The Activa-i's 110cc engine outputs 8 bhp and 8.74 Nm torque, and employs Honda Eco Technology for improving emissions and fuel-efficiency, thereby delivering a manufacturer-claimed mileage figure of 60kmpl. Other features include Honda's efficient Combi-Brake system, tubeless tyres, a maintenance-free battery, 18-litre underseat storage space and a rear-tyre fender, a feature that would help in reducing mud splashes on rainy days.
The Honda Activa-i is priced at Rs 44,200 (ex-showroom, Delhi), and is available in four shades, Pearl Sunbeam White, Alpha Red Metallic, Purple Metallic, and Beige Metallic. The Activa-i will be in available showrooms across India by the end of June.
Honda now has four products in the automatic scooter segment, with the Activa-i joining the Activa, the Dio and the Aviator. Speaking to the media at the launch event, Mr.Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, HMSI, said "As a leader in the automatic scooters segment, Honda's entry into the personal compact segment with Activa-i is its next strategic step towards reinforcing its market leadership."
