Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) have started taking bookings for their 650cc sports bike, namely the CBR650F. It costs Rs. 50,000 to book the bike. The bike is expected to be officially launched on August 4. This bike will join the popular CBR stable in India which includes the CBR150R, the CBR250R and the CBR1000R.
A while ago, we announced that the bike will be brought in as CKDs and will be assembled at Honda’s plant. However, it seems that Honda has not yet finalised the facility where the bike will be assembled.
The CBR650F is powered by a 649cc, 4-cylinder, fuel-injected unit that develops a voracious 86 bhp at 11,000 rpm and a torque output of 62Nm at 8000 rpm. This engine is mated to a slick shifting 6-speed gearbox. Other notable features on the CBR650F include twin-screen digital instrument cluster and aluminium swing arm.
Honda has done its part in ensuring that this new bike is safe to ride. The CBR650F comes with twin disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. This configuration reduces stopping distance by a considerable margin. The bike also comes with ABS as standard.
The CBR650F is expected to be priced between Rs.6-8 lakhs. The CBR650F will go head to head with the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Benelli TNT600 GT.
