Japanese two-wheeler giant Honda has announced that it will start production of the CBR 650F in India from 2015. The revelation was by none other than Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Y.S.Guleria and was revealed at the foundation stone laying ceremony for their upcoming plant in Vithalpur, Ahmedabad.
This facility will be the company’s fourth plant in the country, apart from the ones in Haryana, Rajasthan and Karnataka, and will start functioning from 2016, focusing solely on the country’s growing demand for scooters, especially the Activa series.
It is still unclear as to in which of Honda’s four Indian facilities the CBR 650F will undergo production. No word is out on the price as well, but considering that the vehicle will be a CKD unit, it is safe to assume that it will not burn a huge hole in your pocket. The CBR 650F is a sport tourer that is currently on sale in many countries. It is powered by a 649cc in-line four-cylinder engine that produces 86 bhp and 63 Nm of torque. It’ll compete head on with the Kawasaki Ninja 650R, and the upcoming DSK Benelli TNT 600GT.
