Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has partnered with Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL) to sell pre-owned bikes in India. The company, which is the second-largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India, currently sells their pre-owned motorcycles under the brand name “Best Deal”. There are around 60 “Best Deal” outlets operating across 11 states in India. These outlets sell only pre-owned Honda motorcycles. In order to sell the pre-owned non-Honda bikes, which the company has amassed through exchange offers for its new bikes, HMSI have tied up with SAMIL. SAMIL will bid of such pre-owned non-Honda motorcycles with proper documentation at fair pricing. Through this partnership, HMSI plan to sell around 3.5 lakh units in the next three years.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, VP sales and marketing Honda India says that the current contribution of the pre-owned two-wheeler market is about 15% of overall sales in India. He also adds that the industry lacks an organised and reliable structure and that with this tie-up they aim to bridge the gap. Shriram Automall India CEO Sameer Malhotra says that the company aims to become the largest organised player in the pre-owned two-wheeler space. He further adds that the company’s initial focus would be on non-Honda motorcycles but if need arises, they would also deal in Honda bikes and scooters.
