The internet off late has been bombarded with various images and speculative information regarding the release of the KTM RC200 and RC390 in India. All this has left many KTM fans in doubt over the imminent launch date of the ‘Race Competition’ series, but there’s good news finally. A recent post on the ‘KTM RC390 – India’ page on Facebook has confirmed that a KTM Dealer Conference will be held in Pune in the month of August, when information regarding its launch is most likely to be revealed. The sales training program for the same is also said to begin from the 29th of August. With this disclosure, we believe that the bike could reach dealerships as early September 2014.
Since their introduction in the country, the Duke 200 and the Duke 390 have taken the Indian two-wheeler market by storm. Their popularity and distinction as one of the sportiest bikes around has aroused a lot of interest about the RC series in the minds of many biking enthusiasts. It comes as no surprise that this is one of the most anticipated bike launches this year!
The KTM RC200 and RC390 are the fully-faired sport versions of their Duke siblings. They feature an aggressively-styled aerodynamic front-end which should significantly reduce the forces of drag and windblast, while adding to the Duke’s oomph factor. The mechanicals and chassis parts are almost exactly the same as the Duke twins, save for the clip-on handlebars, and a slightly steeper steering rake.
The bikes are expected to come with a price tag of roughly Rs. 1.8 lakhs for the RC200 and Rs. 2.4 lakhs for the bigger-engined variant. With the RC twins around, competitors like the Honda CBR 250R, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Hyosung GT250R will surely feel the heat!
