Fabian Foret wins Round 2 of the World SuperSport Championship

By

Looks like M.S.Dhoni had a weekend to remember. Apart from winning a close match in the on-going Indian Premier League, the cricketer’s Mahi Racing Team India won its 2nd race of the season in the World SuperSport Championships at Aragon on Sunday, this time courtesy of Fabien Foret, who crossed the line on his ZX-6R in first place. Thanks to his 16th race win of his career, Foret, the 2002 World SuperSport Champion, becomes the new leader in the SuperSport standings.

An almost countless number of crashes, technical issues and unforeseeable happenings characterised Sunday's SuperSport close race, starting from the braking issue that put an early end to reigning champion and Foret's Mahi Racing team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu's attempt for a repeat performance. Scot Kev Coghlan (DMC Lorenzini Racing Team) had a shot at the lead during the race, but at crash at Turn 7 prevented him from maintaining the first position. Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda World Supersport) gets another podium finish in his rookie season, a 2nd place this time ahead of Italy's Luca Scassa (Kawasaki Intermoto Ponyexpres), Andrea Antonelli (Team Goeleven Kawasaki), Riccardo Russo (Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) and team mate Lorenzo Zanetti.
