Mahindra 2Wheelers had admitted that last year was a period of sustenance and stability and that they will come out all guns blazing this fiscal year. As such, they have planned for five new two-wheeler launches for 2014, one among them being their performance bike, the Mahindra Mojo 300. The production version of the Mojo 300 was displayed at a recent Mahindra dealers’ meet, which indicates that the bike could be launched sooner than expected.
The engine is a 292cc liquid cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine that is expected to produce around 27bhp of peak power at 8,000rpm and 25Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. Top-spec Pirelli Sport Demon tyres wrap around smart-looking black powder-coated alloys. It also features an upside down telescopic fork unit with a monoshock at the rear. Disc brakes adorning the front and rear wheels should help stop the bike in a jiffy.
The performance bike will come with front cowl that houses twin headlamps and the daytime-running lamps, LED turn indicators integrated into the mirrors, and LED tail lights. The Mojo will also sport an analog tachometer besides a digital speedometer, trip meter and fuel gauge.
With all these features, we expect the Mahindra Mojo to be priced at under Rs. 2 lakhs. This is the Indian manufacturer’s very first performance bike, and it will face stiff competition from the Honda CBR 250R, KTM RC390 and the Hyosung GT250R.
