Indian cruiser giant Royal Enfield will conduct its 13th edition of the Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey on 9th July 2016. The tour will last for 15 days, coming to an end on 23rd July. The event will be flagged off from New Delhi. The ride will effectively cover a total distance of about 2500 Km. Owners of Royal Enfield across the country are invited to apply for the Himalayan Odyssey on the website on or after May 02, 2016.
Royal Enfield will select 50 riders from the total number of applications. Riding in the Himalayas as always been in the Bucket list of bikers across the world. The elevation will be 18,000 feet above sea level. The riders will have to acclimatize to the extreme, dry weather.
The big news is that along with the Himalayan Odyssey ride, Royal Enfield is also organizing a women’s only Himalayan Odyssey ride Powered by STRE (She Travels on Royal Enfield) banner. STRE is a well know women’s biking community which organizes rides across the world. This first edition of Women-only Himalayan Odyssey will have a total of 20 women riders.
Although both rides will be flagged off together at Delhi, they will take different routes before converging at Leh. The ride will provide an opportunity for adventurous men and women who want to conquer one of the most difficult terrains in the world. The riders will traverse through Khardung-La-one of the world’s highest Motorable road.
