Suzuki Motorcycles makes one of the most iconic superbikes in the world namely, the Hayabusa. This bike's reputation is larger than life and is widely considered to be one of the best motorcycles on the planet. The Hayabusa is also a popular choice for celebrities and sports personalities in India. All this status comes at a price obviously. The Hayabusa costs an eye watering Rs. 16,00,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi) currently.
The Hayabusa has not experienced any significant mechanical updates since its inception. The only changes over the year are paint jobs and graphics. Recently, the Indian government has been encouraging major players in the automotive segment to manufacture their products in India. Suzuki has taken the call and now plans to locally assemble the Hayabusa in India.
The local manufacture of the Hayabusa will reduce the price tag of the Hayabusa by about Rs. 2 lakhs, which will bring the price close to Rs. 14,00,000. This gives Suzuki the edge in terms of pricing over some of its rivals from Kawasaki, BMW Motorrad etc. The decision to assemble locally is good news for motorcycle enthusiasts as this might influence other manufacturers to reduce costs by doing the same. It might also make Suzuki assemble more of its exciting superbikes in India. One can only hope. Stay tuned for more information in this segment.
