TVS today launched its latest offering in the scooter segment, the Scooty Zest 110. First showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi, the Scooty Zest is a lightweight automatic scooter targeted at young women. While the new body design carries the ethos of the Scooty line, it looks more stylish than the Pep+ or the Streak, which is accentuated by its black wheels and the funky LED tail light cluster.
While it is powered by the same 109.7cc single-cylinder engine that powers the Wego and the Jupiter, the Scooty Zest only weighs a paltry 97 kgs. This should help those 8-odd horses the engine produces to gallop to 60 kmph much quicker than its more expensive siblings. Given the compact dimensions, the Zest should be a hoot to scoot around town too.
The Scooty Zest gets an all-drum braking setup, but in a unique twist, the rear drum is larger than the one on the front. According to TVS, this has been done to compensate for the rear-biased weight distribution. We wish TVS offered a front disc brake atleast as an option, if not standard.
TVS has priced the Scooty Zest very competitively at Rs 42,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This should help the company improve its position in the scooter segment in India, which is currently witnessing an enormous upswing in sales. The Zest is available in five shades, Turquoise, Pink, Grey, Black, and Red
