Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio has made quite a name for itself in India for its trendy retro-themed scooter, the Vespa. The company today unveiled yet another limited edition version, dubbed the Vespa Elegante. The new scooter will join the LX 125, VX 125, the Vespa S and Esclusivo in Vespa’s India range
The Vespa Elegante is modeled on the Vespa VX 125, but comes with its own quirks in the styling department, such as the spilt rider and pillion seats, and the redesigned front grille section. Also included are a front disc brake, front and side bumper guards, tubeless tyres, and a chromed pillion grab rail.
The Vespa Elegante will be available in Bianco Perla (pearl white) with red seats, and Marrone Crete Senesi (clay brown) with beige seats. Matching limited edition helmets for the riders will also be available along with the scooter. The engine does not see any change from the ones used in the other models. The trademark 125cc air cooled engine which delivers 10PS of peak power and 10.6Nm of torque does the task in the Elegante as well.
Prices on the Vespa Elegante are yet to be announced by Piaggio, but word is that the scooter will reach showrooms as early as 20th September 2014.
Update: Vespa has officially launched the Elegante in India, priced at Rs 78,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
