When the Yamaha R15 was first launched in 2008, it was hailed by Indian bike enthusiasts as the best performance bike to ever have graced the country's two-wheeler market since the RD350, offering a technology-laden package that included an engine that developed a then-unprecedented 17bhp and handling that was honed by the engineers who developed the R6 and the legendary R1. Yamaha had updated the R15 in 2011 with the V2.0, but it offered nothing more than a cosmetic upgrade.
Now, Red Rooster Performance is offering an opportunity for R15 owners to bump their performance up several notches. The Bangalore-based company is currently developing a turbocharger kit for the bike. Red Rooster hasn’t revealed any performance figures, but expect the power and torque figures to be improved significantly. A specially designed exhaust and an air-filter are also included as a part of the kit, which can be fitted to both the original R15 and the V2.0.
Watch this space for a full report once the kit has been launched officially.
