The day scores of Indian bike enthusiasts have been waiting for is finally here! Yamaha has taken the wraps off the R25 concept sports bike at the on-going 2013 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. The bike sports a 250cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, which we think could be a high-revving unit producing over 35 bhp. With respect to the chassis components, the R25 is equipped with a tubular perimeter frame (a la the CBR 250R), beefy telescopic front forks, rear mono shock, and a single discs at the front and rear wheels. The bike surely looks stunning, with its styling inspired by Yamaha's M1 MotoGP bike. As with all Yamaha sport bikes, the R25 should also offer great cornering performance.
Although Yamaha claims that this bike is purely a concept, it looks almost ready for production. Only changes the final version should receive are road-spec tires and the fairing, which will need to incorporate headlights.
With the competition heating up in the performance bike segment in India, especially in the sub-Rs 3 Lakh bracket, Yamaha might launch the R25 in the country by the Sepember 2014. Given the massive fan following and high brand recall Yamaha enjoys in India, this bike is bound to be a success here, regardless of its pricing.
