Rumours are abuzz that Yamaha’s entry level 150cc segment motorcycle, the SZ-RR will soon be launched with the company’s patented Blue Core technology.
The main reason behind the inclusion of this technology was to improve fuel efficiency, which is a key aspect for mileage-conscious Indians. The FZ-Fi, FZ-S Fi and the Fazer Fi were the first recipients of the company’s Blue core technology which promises high speed performance while giving equal importance to combustion efficiency, reduced power loss and precise fuel supply and ignition timing.
Upon its launch, the vehicle will be the first carbureted model in Yamaha’s lineup to receive the Blue Core technology. The current SZ-RR is powered by a 153cc engine that produces roughly 12 bhp of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. If the new Blue Core equipped FZ-Fi is any indicator, one can expect the power and torque ratings to take a dip on the SZ-RR too, but that could get compensated in a drop in the bike’s kerb weight.
The upcoming SZ-RR Blue Core is also expected to get a few cosmetic changes - dual-tone paint schemes, smoked windscreen, 3D emblem and an aluminium pillion grab rail. While we are still unsure of the price at which the bike will retail, we anticipate a launch during the festive season. Watch this space for more updates!
