Bajaj Auto is India’s third largest motorcycle manufacturer and a part of one of the top ten business houses in the country. Founded in 1945 as Bachraj Trading Corporation, Bajaj Auto began by marketing imported vehicles in India. It obtained a license to manufacture two and three wheelers in the country in 1959. By 1977, Bajaj Auto had sold more than 1 lac vehicles in a fiscal year. By 1995, it had produced over 10 million vehicles, and sold over 1 million per year. Bajaj ceased production of scooters in 2009, choosing to focus purely on motorcycles.
Unique in its approach to the Indian market, Bajaj today offers the consumers a wide variety of motorcycles, ranging from a 100cc commuter to a 220cc sport bike. The company is known for incorporating numerous indigenously-developed technologies, and can be credited for launching a number of game-changing products, such as the highly popular Pulsar series of bikes, which brought performance biking to the masses.
