Bajaj Discover 125 ST Features and Overview

The 2014 Bajaj Discover 125 ST is a premium mid-segment commuter bike from Bajaj Auto. The Discover 125 ST is powered by a 125cc twin-spark engine that comes with 4-valves instead of two, which helps increasing the power and torque outputs without reduction in fuel-efficiency and emissions. The end result is an engine that makes 13 bhp and 11 Nm of torque, which is high output for a 125cc engine. The Discover 125 ST delivers a mileage of 65 kmpl. The bike comes with ExhausTEC technology for improved torque delivery at all revs. Standard features for the Discover 125 ST include a front petal-pattern disc brake, electric start, gas-charged rear mono-shock, alloy wheels, pass switch, and a maintenance-free battery.

The Discover 125 ST is priced at priced at Rs.57,730(ex-showroom, Delhi). The colours available are, blue, blue/black, red, and red/black.

The Discover 125 ST is targeted at a younger generation of buyers, and hence incorporates trendy styling elements in its design. The bike offers the rider a typical commuter-style upright riding position, with wide handlebars and middle-set foot pegs, which minimises stress applied on the lower back and wrists, thereby improving comfort while riding for extended durations

It is powered by an air-cooled 125cc 4-valve twinspark single-cylinder engine that produces 13 bhp and 11 Nm torque. Drive is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox, which helps the Discover 125ST to cruise at a lower engine speed, thereby reducing the fuel consumed.

The Discover 125 ST is equipped with telescopic front forks and a gas-charged mono shock absorber at the rear. Although they use hydraulic fluid, gas-charged shock absorbers are better than pure-hydraulic units, as they improve the damping characteristics by reducing the build-up of air-bubbles in the fluid, helping to retain its optimum viscosity. Usage of a mono-shock rather than dual shock absorbers helps in reducing the unsprung mass of the bike, thereby improving the dynamic characteristics of the bike.

The Discover 125 ST employs a 200mm petal disc brake at the front, and a 130mm drum brake at the rear.

Those who want a premium, feature loaded 125cc commuter that offers the power output of a 150cc and the mileage of a 125cc bike. Recommended for those who commute more than 50kms a day, and involves riding on the highway.

Totally cool bike with gr8 mileage. Looks good but a digital speedometer would have been more stylish and sporty. Tank could have been designed better. Overall one of the finest bike from Bajaj’s previous Discover versions as well as from its other 125 cc bikes till date.

Personally happy with Discover 125 ST being my first bike.
