The 2016 R 1200 GS is a 1200 cc adventure bike imported and sold by BMW in India. The latest R 1200 GS was launched in 2013. The R 1200 GS aims to deliver both performance and practicality at a reasonable price. It has a larger fuel tank than the standard R 1200 GS.
The 2016 BMW R 1200 GS has eye catching details and an upright stance, which makes it appealing to adventure bike enthusiasts across the country. The dimensions of the bike are compact and this makes it nimble and easy to manoeuvre in traffic. The bike has a two-section frame, in which the front end is bolted on the rear frame. The bike offers the rider an upright riding position. This allows for long distance riding without fatigue.
The BMW R 1200 GS is powered by a 1170 cc, flat-twin engine that churns out a peak power of 110 bhp at 7750 rpm and has a peak torque output of 120 Nm at 6000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. The bike comes with fuel injection technology as standard.
The BMW R 1200 GS is equipped with BMW Motorrad BMW Motorrad Telelever at the front. At the rear the bike is equipped with BMW Motorrad Paralever. The suspension system does a commendable job in tackling road bumps.
The BMW R 1200 GS comes equipped with 305mm dual-disc brakes at the front with 4-piston callipers and 265 mm single disc brake at the rear with 2-piston floating calliper.
