Honda Dio Features and Overview

The 2016 Honda Dio is an automatic scooter from Honda India. It is powered by a 109cc air-cooled single cylinder engine, one of the most powerful and fuel-efficient in its class. The Dio comes equipped with features such as a Combi-Brake System (CBS), underseat storage, puncture-resistant tubeless tyres, safety key shutter, wide seat for riding comfort, alloy grab-rail for the pillion, and a low-maintenance air-filter.

The 2016 Honda Dio's mileage is 60 kmpl. The scooter comes in five colours, Leblon Violet Metallic, Sports Red, Candy Palm Green, Matt Axis Grey Metallic, and Pearl Sunbeam White. The Honda Dio price as of February 2016 is Rs.47,887(ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Honda Dio employs a step-thru body style, which simplifies getting astride the seat and off it. The scooter is targeted at a younger generation of buyers, and hence incorporates trendy styling elements such as the layered front fairing and dual-tone paint schemes in its design. The ergonomics offered are that of a typical scooter, with an upright, feet-forward, seating posture.

The Honda Dio is powered by a 109cc air-cooled single cylinder engine that outputs 8 bhp @ 7500 rpm and 9 Nm torque @ 5500 rpm. The scooter employs an automatic continuously variable transmission, which makes it easy to ride.

The Honda Dio uses a trailing link suspension system at the front end, and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. A unique feature of the trailing link suspension system is its anti-dive characteristics. When the front brake is applied, the front end doesnt dive, which improves stability and control.

The Honda Dio comes fitted with 130mm drum brakes on the front and rear wheels. The scooter is equipped with a Combi-Brake System (CBS), where both brakes are actuated even if only the rear brake lever is pulled. Using both brakes simultaneously shortens the distance required to come to a halt considerably, when compared to using either brake individually.

The Honda Dio is meant for those looking for a scooter for commuting short distances (less than 30 kms per day) within the city, and those who are new to riding a motorized two wheeler. Check out the Honda Dio review in the section below.

Before the turn of the millennium, scooters that were sold in India usually adopted a conservative styling approach. This resulted in designs that looked staid and straitjacketed, and lacked any form of excitement. Thankfully, this norm lasted only till 2003, when the Honda Dio was introduced into the market. Honda pulled a coup of sorts when it launched a scooter that boasted of styling which seemed alien compared to the scooters of that day. It was easy to ride, looked exciting, and above all, it was price ... ()

Honda Dio, the second scooter i have owned. i was riding a scooty before this. Have to say this. One of the best scooters in market. Combined with a powerful and reliable Honda engine it gives a very good output. The only negative is the ride comfort during long distance riding. You will surely get back pain if you ride it for long. Braking is exceptional. best in industry. Overall a good scooter with good overall features.
