KTM Duke 390 Features and Overview

Powered by a fuel-injected 373cc single cylinder engine that produces 43 bhp, the 2016 KTM Duke 390 is one of the fastest bikes in the sub Rs 2lakh segment. It accelerates from 0 - 100 kmph in under 6 seconds, and can go all the way to an estimated top speed of nearly 170 kmph.  The bike is designed such that all the major components are tightly packaged and placed in the centre of the bike, so as to improve mass-centralization and lower the centre of gravity. This helps it change direction very quickly, making it fun to ride both in traffic and on twisty roads. The Duke 390 comes fitted with high-quality chassis components such as a steel trellis frame, lightweight aluminium swingarm, 43mm dia. upside-down front forks, an adjustable rear monoshock, and an all-alloy handlebar. Also included are features such as a fully digital multifunction display, LED indicators and tail lights, back-lit switchgear, and a gearshift indicator light all .

The 2016 KTM Duke 390 mileage is about 30 kmpl. The bike is available in White, and Black. The KTM Duke 390 price as of January 2016 is Rs.1,90,328(ex-showroom, Delhi).

The KTM Duke 390 is styled in line with the company€™s design language, accentuated by the sharp lines and flat surfaces that lend it an aggressive look. It is equipped with wide handlebars and slightly rear-set foot pegs that seat the rider in a position that offers maximum control during spirited riding, while not adversely affecting comfort during everyday usage.

The KTM Duke 390 powered by a tech-laden 373cc engine. The liquid-cooled engine is fed via fuel-injection, and outputs 43 bhp @ 9000 rpm and 35 Nm torque @ 7000 rpm. The exhaust is mounted underneath the bike for better mass centralization and improved low-end torque. The 6-speed gearbox has tall ratios, which makes for relaxed cruising on the highway.

The KTM Duke 390 employs a steel trellis frame, a type of frame that is lightweight and rigid, while adding to the aesthetic appeal of the bike. The bike is fitted with inverted telescopic forks at the front, and an adjustable monoshock at the rear.

The KTM Duke 390 is fitted with a massive 110-section tyre at the front and a 150-section tyre at the rear. The bike come equipped with 300 mm front disc with 4-piston caliper and a 230 mm rear disc with a 2-piston caliper that are hydraulically-actuated via steel braided brake lines. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is available as standard.

The KTM Duke 390 is a bike that is meant for those looking for a sporty, powerful and nimble bike for city commutes, as well as short weekend rides. Check out the KTM Duke 390 review in the section below.

If the Yamaha R15 kick-started the upswing in the Indian performance bike segment, then it’d be safe to say that it was the introduction of the KTM Duke 390 that redefined and turbocharged it. The Duke 390 offers superlative performance at an affordable price point, but how well can it tackle the rigours of daily life? We test the updated 2015 version that comes with small but significant improvements, to find out just that, and more!
