KTM RC390 Features and Overview

The much-awaited 2016 RC 390, which was unveiled in September 2014, is the fully-faired track-focused version of the KTM Duke 390.

The 2016 KTM RC 390 mileage is about 30 kmpl. The bike is available in Black/White. The KTM RC 390 price as of January 2016 is Rs.2,13,506(ex-showroom Delhi).

The KTM RC 390 hails from the company's legendary €˜Race Competition' series. It features an aggressively-styled aerodynamic front-end which should significantly reduce the effects of drag and windblast. The mechanicals and chassis parts are almost exactly the same as the Duke 390, save for the clip-on handlebars, rear-set foot pegs, and a slightly steeper steering rake. As with most performance bikes, pillion riding is quite arduous for long commutes but is otherwise manageable.

The KTM RC 390 is powered by a 373.2cc single cylinder engine that is liquid-cooled and uses fuel-injection. It churns out 43 bhp of power at 9000 rpm and 35 Nm of torque at 7000 rpm. A manual 6-speed gearbox delivers power to the rear wheels.

The front end of the RC 390 comes with an upside down telescopic suspension system with 125mm travel and the rear end uses a 10-step hydraulic monoshock suspension unit with 150mm travel.

The KTM RC390 employs a 300mm dia. disc brake on the front, and a 230mm disc at the rear. The bike comes with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as standard, which can be switched off if needed.

The KTM RC 390 is a focused motorcycle that is recommended only for serious bike enthusiasts. It offers excellent value for money, given the performance on tap. It can be used for short commutes, for long tours, and for weekend track days as well. Check out the KTM RC 390 review in the section below.

The KTM RC 390 is one of the most important motorcycles introduced in India in recent times. It promises Moto3-inspired performance and dynamics, at a scarcely-believable price point. We straddle this two-wheeled Indo-Austrian missile and take it for a long ride, to test it and see what it is capable of.
