Royal Enfield Classic 500 Features and Overview

The 2016 Royal Enfield Classic 500 is one of the cruiser bikes from the Classic range of Royal Enfield. The Classic 500 is powered by a fuel-injected 500cc single cylinder engine, and is a complete retro-themed bike. It incorporates styling details from Royal Enfields of yesteryear, like the single speedometer, twin-pilot lamps on either side of the headlight, sprung single rider saddle, the upswept exhaust and the oval airbox cover. Standard features for the bike include a front disc brake, electric start, and gas-charged shock absorbers.

The 2016 Royal Enfield Classic 500 delivers an average mileage of 40 kmpl. It is priced at Rs.1,60,350(ex-showroom, Delhi), and is available in Teal Green, Royal Maroon, and Black.

The Classic 500 employs typical cruiser design elements, accentuated by the long wheelbase and low seat height, both of which aid stability while riding at highway speeds. The foot pegs are set forward, and the handlebars are set slightly high and wide, so as to reduce strain on the rider when riding for long durations.

The Classic 500 is powered by a fuel-injected and air-cooled 499cc single cylinder engine that outputs 27.2 bhp and 41.3 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox.

The Classic 500 employs telescopic front forks and twin gas-charged hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear end. The suspension sports a moderately soft setup, which has been optimized to offer comfort without compromising its handling characteristics.

The Classic 500 uses a 280mm disc brake at the front wheel and 153mm drum brake at the rear wheel.
