Royal Enfield Continental GT Features and Overview

The 2016 Royal Enfield Continental GT is a modern day nod to thecafe racers of the50s and the 60s, when young motorcyclists in Britain used to race specially modified bikes from one café to another. It is unlike any other bike currently sold in India. While all the other Royal Enfield bikes are cruisers, this one is a sporty performance bike. It is powered by a fuel-injected 535cc single cylinder engine, and has been designed to offer riders a unique riding experience. It comes equipped as standard with electric start, aluminium foot pegs, alloy wire-spoke rims, and top-quality disc brakes and suspension components on both the front and rear wheels. Optional accessories include handlebar-end mirrors, and an extended seat to accommodate a pillion rider.

The 2016 Royal Enfield Continental GT mileage is about 30 kmpl. The bike is available in two colours, GT Red and GT Yellow. The Continental GT price as of January 2016 is Rs.1,92,165(ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Continental GT's minimalistic design is inspired by Royal Enfield's 250cc café racer of the same name, dating back to the 60's. The bike features unique design cues, such as the retro single round headlamp, exquisitely crafted fuel tank, and the solo rider's seat. Being a café racer, the Continental GT comes equipped with low mounted clip-on handlebars and rear-set foot pegs, offering riders a sporty seating posture.

The Continental GT is powered by a new fuel-injected 535cc single cylinder engine. This engine is based on the existing 500cc engine, and incorporates lighter internal components, which reduces inertia and helps the engine to rev more freely. The drive is transmitted via a five-speed gearbox.

The Continental GT comes equipped with 41mm telescopic forks at the front, and a pair of gas-charged Paioli rear shock absorbers.

Braking on the Continental GT is handled by a 300mm and 240mm floating discs at the front and rear respectively. The bike's 18in aluminium wire spoke wheels come shod with Pirelli Sport Demon tyres as standard.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT is for those who want a unique motorcycle that can be used for both leisure rides and for the daily commute. Check out the Royal Enfield Continental GT review in the section below.
