The next bike in line from Triumph Motorcycles is the 2016 Triumph Thruxton. A contemporary Cafe racer, the Thruxton deploys the Bonneville parallel twin cylinder engine and comes with mind-blowing low end torque capabilities.
The 2016 Triumph Thruxton should deliver an average mileage of 20 kmpl in real-world conditions. It is priced at Rs.6,70,000(ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in the following colours Brookland Green and Phantom Black.
The Triumph Thruxton is a cafe racer themed bike and is in essence a racing bike. It is a compactly designed bike with a windshield at the front. The closely tucked handlebars make riding the Thruxton truly wonderful. Despite the look, the Thruxton can in fact accommodate a passenger, however it is not too conducive.
Powering the Triumph Thruxton is an air-cooled double overhead cam twin cylinder 865cc engine that outputs a peak power of 68bhp at 7400rpm and produces a torque of 69Nm at 5800rpm. The low end torque engine is capable of producing exceptional torque at low rpms which will prove useful for swift overtaking and weaving one s way through heavy traffic. Power is transmitted to the back wheel via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Thruxton features a typical telescopic fork suspension unit with 120mm travel at the front and a twin shock absorber unit with adjustable preload and 106mm travel at the rear.
Two single disc brakes of 310mm diameter and 255mm diameter are employed at the front and rear section respectively.
The Thruxton is a perfect fit for racing enthusiasts looking to make moderate commutes (less than 50kms) within the city on a daily basis.
